Worldy Wisdom (something to ponder on)

Image
1 Corinthians 3:18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. (An excerpt from The Experience Day by Day with God “WAITING” by Henry and Richard Blackaby) There are a lot of opinions out there on what’s right and what’s wrong- on what’s permissible and what’s unacceptable. You’re a young person; to whom should you listen? How will you know what to do? Jimmy Carter, former American president and a devout Christian, said, “We must adjust to changing times and still hold to unchanging principles.” It makes no difference whether it’s the first century, or the twenty-first century, God’s principles remain the same. If you want wise direction, bypass the world’s “wisdom”. Open your Bible. Don’t get your wisdom from the world. Get it from the Word.

Get Some Sleep Dude!

I am not a morning person.   I usually get late on some appointments.   I am active and awake during night time.   We don’t have internet connection in our house so I couldn’t be addicted that much in checking my Facebook or my emails.   I love sleeping.   I sleep a lot.   Other people who know me sometimes misjudged me if I sleep for 12 hours.   I know about getting sleep for 8 hours.   I heard from a friend that “when you get sleep for 3 or 4 hours, might as well continue that habit for 6 months and surely you’ll die!”   Well, exaggeration is there. I couldn’t get up from bed especially if the room is cold.   I really like it when sleeping and it’s quite cold (not too cold. TRIVIA:   I do get sick in super cold places-literally hot and sick).   I turned off the fan as my body tells me it is time to wake up! In my field of career, I do sleep late.   My body clock knows that 12 midnight or 1 in the morning is for my sleeping time. Wake up call at 7 in the morning but I get out from be

MU (Mutual Understanding) and Ambiguous Relationships

Here is an article from kuyakevin.com (you might want to check his site) It is about the MU thing.. I would definitely agree on his article.  Sometimes, investing the feeling for someone is not enough if you are in this kind of relationship.  No commitment.  No assurance that the person you love will stand on you on whatever circumstances, situations you may be in. just click this link. MU (Mutual Understanding) and Ambiguous Relationships blessings!!

Working with the Highest Motive (Excellence in Your career)

Excellence is founded upon a person’s quality of motivation at work. There are three types of work motivation. (This is from the book that I am currently reading “Called to Excel by Rex Resurreccion”) First:   working FOR SELF        This is concerned with “What will I get out of this?”   His or her dominant objective is to earn money.   This motive is quite a MOVER.          A person driven by self-interest motive may be in danger of thinking that there are only two kinds of people in the world:   (1) those who fool people and (2) those who are fooled.           He definitely not want to be included among those are fooled but rather be those who fool people.   Such person can be a dangerous kind of friend because he serves another person only to the extent that that person is useful to him.   In other words, one must be a profitable asset for him to remain a friend of the person driven by self-interest. Second: working FOR OTHERS       This person is a people-pleaser.   He likes

How Great is MY GOD

Psalm 46:10 says:   10 "Be still, and know that I am God;        I will be exalted among the nations,        I will be exalted in the earth." Philippians 4:13 says: 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.            These two verses struck me this morning.   I have heard it in the song, I have read in many times in the Bible but this morning was totally different.   They weren’t actually new to me but they were! They were like a precious message shining in my Bible as I meditate on those verses.   God, what do You want to reveal to me at that time?            We sometimes have so many plans in life, about the future, about our career, our relationship with family and friends, our needs and wants.   We are sometimes too preoccupied on how we’ll be successful with our dreams, our plans.   Sometimes, I get too tired thinking about those things as if I don’t know what the next thing to do is.   But the Lord really moves in every situation in my life every

Temptation 101

Image
In Genesis 39:7-9,11-12 was one of a good example on how to escape in times of  temptation. Joseph has recovered from the terrible thing his brothers had done to him.  After they sold him into slavery, a kind master bought him and quickly promoted him.  Joseph was thriving in his new environment when, suddenly, he found himself in a dangerous and awkward situation.  His master's wife took notice of him and invited him to her bed.  She had the power to make Joseph's life unbearable if he refused her, but if he gave in, he's be deceiving his master and dishonoring God.  It was a no-win situation. Temptation comes in many forms.  I, myself was tempted before, even way back when I have no Christ yet in my life.  Giving into temptations was very easy to me before knowing and believing that I am in control of my life.   I know my do's and dont's of my life. But even now that I have Christ in my life, I am not exempted in temptations.  It is the more that we are being

We will see you again Papa

Image
I received a text message from my father this morning.  It was an open book in my life that I am a product of a broken family.  My father was asking me when are we (together with my 2 sisters) going to Alabat, Quezon; that he's just fine and that I was not texting him anymore.  It sounded like he misses us that much.          Recently, I just learned how to be open with my mom regarding my opinions, feelings, suggestions, and some problems.  And as I was trying to be open with her, I forwarded my father's message to her and to my sisters, as I assumed that they have the need to know about my father's situation.  And as I was writing this down, I have cried already.  My sister replied asking for the next plans which I myself couldn't answer yet because of the purpose of just letting them know that papa sent me a message.         Surprisingly, my mother also sent me a message.  I expected that she would react too much but way far than I expected earlier.  I ant

Does God want you to be rich?

We had this topic last Sunday in our church. When our pastor asked the congregation this question, I raised my hand when he said “Who says yes?” In my mind, what I can only justify with my answer is that the Lord wants us to be rich in Spirit, in knowledge of His Word, and rich in terms of heavenly treasures period. But then he gave us 4 Theology of which you can reflect with towards your attitude on money, wealth, and possessions. Here below was my note (and oh some words are incomplete, just a word not the whole context, my apologies) 1. POVERTY THEOLOGY Their VIEW of PROSPERITY is : Non-materialistic, Disregard possession. For them, “Possessions are CURSE” Their VIEW of PURCHASES is: Lowest Quality        For them, they would probably give their possessions to the needy thinking that they don’t need those things because they have a proof Bible text that says: “Sell all and give to the poor” (Luke 18:18-22) But as you look at the whole context of the verse, you will realize

Three days to go!!! Can't wait to see the Worship concert of Citipointe! (*taken from Becca Music site) Woohooo! The last time I saw the team (together with Coco) was in VCF-Ortigas.  I wasn't able to attend in my home church that time so I decided to attend at VCF where it happened that Citipointe team leads the congregration for that day.  That's the time I learned to like the team because of their passion to sing and write music to bring glory to the Lord. And now they will back! I remember what one pastor said at VCF: "This is not about watching Citipointe performing.  It is not a concert more so promoting their concert but this whole thing is about God.  He is the center, the focus of this whole thing at this time." I agree.  ^&^

It is about CHARACTER

My devotion for today is about CHARACTER.  There was two points to remember (not to mention that there are lots to say about character according to the Bible) Does your reputation reflect your Character? Proverbs 27:21 " The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the priase he receives ."        God is more interested in our character than in our reputation.  We could do an act of giving to other people but infact, deep within  us, we don't actually feel doing it; and yet we still do it! Why? because we are conscious about what people might say about our reputation.  We, in human perspective, must always have a good reputation.  It isn't bad to have that one though, but in God's perspective, He wants our character than our reputation.  His goal is for us to be a righteous person, having a Christlike character.       We should allow the Lord to refine our character and burn away all the impurities that we have until we are truly li

It was a blessed weekend!

Saturday: August 28, 2010 I had a 2 pm appointment to meet at the church but something happened importantly in the house. I was late then ^^ I reached at around 3:30pm. I had to teach some of my church mates on a dance presentation the following day. The team wasn’t complete. After the dance practice, I had to meet my practice for our presentation. We practiced the song “God of this city” with the use of the grand piano... waahh! Notes! I cannot read notes! I must admit that I had difficult time in singing the song although I know the song very well, but please do not let me sing that song using the chords or lyrics to be read in notes. Then we proceed to our Saturday practice- The Praise and Worship practice. It was a bit tiring for me because I really had a tough time prior the practice. I was physically exhausted. At the back of my mind, I haven’t practice yet for my presentation for the Discipleship Convergence. After our practice, I had now the chance to practice my piece. O
