Cooking 101

Image
When I was kid, I never liked kitchen. I never liked cooking, but I like eating! Growing up away from the kitchen, since we have elders to cook for our food, I never thought it will be a rough road for me learning kitchen activities.  I know how to cook rice, cook some fried foods. As much as I want to cook some of my favorite Filipino food, oh no, I think that would means a LOT!! Ha-ha I remember my sister and I was watching Sineskwela, (that was a decade ago or so), we tried to cook a burger patty out of banana blossom (“puso ng saging”). It was fun! Since then, my sister became our kitchen’s best friend. Now that I am old enough to be friends with our kitchen, I’m still having some fear to cook the food that I like. Well, this isn’t about cooking lesson though. Since I am expose to Korean culture, language and the likes, one of my hobby these past few months was to cook some “kimbap” and to eat “kimchi” and other Korean foods! I’ve tried to make kimbap. With the help of...

From my Korean 학생

학생 means haksaeng, which means student When I first had my job as Online English Teacher for Koreans, I never imagined that I would get close to them and Korea itself. I entered the business way back 2008 without any knowledge about Korea's culture and language. I was still a student at that time and would work hard to earn money. I was a bit intimidated at first but when I started to learn the attitude of my Korean students, I find it soooooooooooo sweet. Though not all students I handled with were kind, others were really.........."pasaway". Anyway, I collected some of their messages to me from email. Those letters put a smile on my face every time I read them. Though, some of them had forgotten me, I'm still happy because two of them were still active and we still have communication through Facebook. Right now, I am still working at the same business, but different company. I am enjoying touching their lives and building friendship with them. Oh, not just wi...

107 Pounds Beauty

Image
You must be familiar with this Korean movie. "200 Pounds Beauty". I can’t remember what the story was all about but it was a good movie. Hearing comments from other people about my weight didn't bother me at all. They were telling me "Oh, ang payat mo na" ~you're now thin~ "Maybe you're stressed that's why you lose weight" etc I wasn't offended by their comments or what, neither do I get it as a compliment. My response would be, - I eat a lot but I don't know why I don't get fat - hmm...it's because of my metabolism - Really??? I still find myself fat in camera (to which I am always exposed to, teaching my Korean students) - ahh...it's okay...as long as I don't look super thin ...that's it. Last week, Friday, my friends and I had an overnight. We had marathon movie but I only finished one movie! ha-ha When I saw a weighing scale, I hurriedly stepped on it and looked at my weight. I always do that at m...

Jesus & I

Thank God it's Friday! It's not about the party after office hours; or meeting up with friends at the coffee shop; or spending hours for a movie marathon tonight. Whatever your plans will be this Friday, take care and God bless you :) I thank God because it's Friday again! For me, meaning, it's a Bible study time again. There's gladness in my heart not because I was given an opportunity to facilitate our Bible Study but it means another opportunity again to be with me sisters in Christ and pause for a while before sitting down on our chair and do our Monday to Friday routine. Our Scripture for today was in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. God bless you!   The Power of Two ( This devotional material is DIMSUM - got it from the website of Greenhills Christian Fellowship Website)

Fast Delivery!

photo at debragrayelliott.blogspot.com HATE LATE? This slogan of an ad must be familiar to you. You might not be patient to wait for something to fill in your stomach. How about in the concept of PRAYING? Do you pray and always wanting to be answered immediately? or you still pray even if there's no answer yet? They say when you pray, God will only respond in 3 ways: YES, NO, and WAIT. HATE LATE when it comes to prayer? God has never been late in answering our prayers. He wants us to WAIT for He will answer in His own terms, in His beautiful and perfect time. What are you thankful for? "I thank God for His perfect delivery in my prayer!" Let me share you my story... C ouple of weeks ago, I was sending resume to different media companies. I am still employed up to this time, but I still dream that one day, I could work in a media company. As you know, I am an English teacher for Korean students. I am capable of teaching but I am not a licensed tea...
