What was life then

Image
There were lots of things that happened in my college days. It wasn’t an ordinary one.   It was extra ordinary. Well, I will not write about what my life was during those years.   I was about to share with you about this UE POP IDOL thing? UE – University of the East Manila.   That’s the university where I came from. POP IDOL – an adaptation from the booming TV singing competition way back 2004?   UE POP IDOL – Showcasing the singing talent of aspiring students studying in UE!   As far as I can remember, it started during the year when I first stepped in the university. So what about this article? I just want to share with you the opportunities that I grabbed during those years and that was hosting! As a Broadcast Communication major, we were taught lots of things involving media – camera framing, broadcasting, scriptwriting, editing, shooting, set designing, HOSTING and a lot more. I enjoyed production stuff, but honestly, I really don’t want to do things in front of the camera.   I w

Daily bread

Matthew 6:11 Bread was the most common elements of a Jewish meal.   Ordinary.   They didn’t always eat rich, elaborate feasts, but they had bread every day.   To the disciples, daily bread represented the unspectacular.   They’d seen Jesus heal disease, calm storms, and walk on water; they knew God could deliver the big-ticket items.   But Jesus was telling them not to leave God out of the seemingly ordinary parts of life. Praying every day for God to meet our needs does not annoy Him- it pleases Him.   Asking for our daily bread also reminds us regularly that we rely on God for everything – not just the big things, but the everyday needs in life. Don’t ever worry that God will consider your needs too small for Him.   He loves you.   He wants to take care of you whether you need a miracle or a piece of bread.   Remember that everything in life comes from God.   Don’t forget to thank Him today for meeting your

Your will be done…

(Matthew 6:10) There are no arguments in heaven over obeying God’s will.   The angels don’t’ spend weeks mulling over whether or not they’ll do what God is telling them.   They obey-immediately, completely and cheerfully.   If only people would do the same! We know God loves us and wants what’s best for us:   The cross proved that.   And our problem is seldom that we don’t know what to do; we usually know only too well what God desires.   Too often we just don’t want to do it! Some people spend a lot of time seeking God’s will.   The truth is, if they spent as much time doing what they already know God wants them to do, the rest would take care of itself. Jesus reminds us to turn our gaze away from ourselves and outwards to the work God is doing around us.   “Your kingdom come” is really a request that God would bring about his rule over every person on earth.   Presently, not every person calls Jesus Lord, but one day everyone will (Philippians 2:10-11).   Of course, we cannot pray

Hallowed by Your Name…

(Matthew 6:9) Jesus wants us to know that when we pray, we are speaking to almighty God.   If we realize this at the front end of our prayer, we’ll be less inclined to ask Him for anything that would dishonor His holy name.   Furthermore, we’ll understand why He will not help us achieve anything that would disgrace His name.   A solid recognition of the perfect, holy character of our God leads naturally into the next phrase that Jesus gave us:” Your will be done.”

It will be a Rainy Weekend

Today's Weather Forecast: Typhoon "JUAN" continues to move away from the country. But wait, another (hmm, how to say?) awaits us! Well, just look at the image below anyway.hahaha! http://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph/index.shtml Every time I turn on my computer, first thing to check is my class schedule, followed by checking this site.   But, since Monday, I now consider checking the site of PAG-ASA! I just check how the weather is for the day. (Well, it helped me a lot! It has been useful to let my students from Korea how's the weather condition here in the Philippine!) It's kind of cool aside from always asking my students "How's the weather in Korea?" J Today, I got wet from a surprising blast of heavy rain! I haven't been that so far from our house when the rain really poured hard.   I stopped for a while under my umbrella, wishing that the rain would stop. (Well, it didn't stop anyway) Just a thought: it's a good thing I'm wea

BOOK SALE

Image
I was not able to buy a book during the CSM sale at SMX.   I also got ticket for some freebies.   I remember when my co teacher and I went to SMX last year to buy books.   I got 8 books for 99 each!!   I also bought one for my co teacher so she could use the same book as mine for our discipleship because she was still using the Filipino translated version. Well, yesterday, as part of the 44tth celebration of our church, Church Strenghtening Ministry (CSM) publishing also celebrated with us.   Just outside the church, they set up a long table for the books that they are selling. (How sad I wasn’t able to take pictures of that).   Anyway, my eyes got bigger for the new books that they were selling.   I already got some book so I bought new books which I do not have yet.  I got 3 books for 99 each!   Then I asked a close person of mine to buy me another book which I also like but chose not to grab it.   Then he bought me one! J Thanks Coco.  Can't wait to read my new books!!

Religion?

I would just like to share Kuya Kevin's insight between religion and your way of life. I would always emphasize on this: "Religion is man's way to reach GOD; Relationship is God's way to reach man." click this link: http://kuyakevin.blogspot.com/2007/09/religion-or-way-of-life.html

Not for the fainthearted

Following Christ is not for the faint-hearted! Some may tell you that becoming a Christian guarantees a problem-free existence, but Jesus shatters that becoming a Christian guarantees a problem-free existence, but Jesus shatters that illusion.   In fact, he presents Christianity as not only difficult but downright dangerous. In Bible times, following Christ was perilous.   Constant persecution separated serious disciples from would-be Christians.   The threats of arrest, torture, and even their death didn’t make Christianity all that inviting.   People took their commitment to Christ very seriously because their lives and the lives of their family members were on the line.   Yet thousands and thousands of people considered it worth the hazards to know God personally. Christ himself was hated and persecuted, so his disciples didn’t expect that they would avoid persecution themselves. Times have changed, but persecution still separates the true disciple from the wanna-bes.   In some p

O.T and the Ginger bread man (ON STICK)

Image
It was Sunday when I got parts of the cookie that a dear friend of mine made. *Shake A. Villela*.  It was actually from the YOUTH ministry food (haha) when I got O and T.  Well, literally means Over Time.  I just got it because it was cute :) I like the colors. Anyway, nothing too serious about it! It's just the childish part of myself again that's why  I am putting this on my blog. Got back again in the office. I gave letter T to my friend Marge.  She was actually the one who always does OT work.  That reminds me of her that's why I got that OT cookies. I gave letter O to my other team mates.  They have to divide it into 5! Fun! And ofcourse, I ate the gingerbread man! hahaha! top: MARGE's letter T turned into I bottom: that's me and my half gingerbread man ;)

Lessons from the Lord's Prayer Part 3

Image
In Heaven “Our Father in heaven.” Matthew 6:9 Where is God when you pray? In another dimension?   Above the clouds? Far away? What did Jesus mean when he said that his Father was “in heaven”?     He did not mean God is up there somewhere where you can’t reach Him.   When Jesus told his disciples to pray to their Father “in heaven”, he was reminding them that God is not limited like we are.   WE SHOULD APPROACH GOD MUCH DIFFERENTLY THAN WE APPROACH OTHERS.   Other people, even our friends and family, are restricted by what they can, or will, do for us.   WHEN WE SPEAK TO GOD, HOWEVER, WE TALK WITH ONE WHO IS LOVING, POWERFUL, MERCIFUL, WISE, HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS. Think and meditate on God’s greatness before you pray. Remember that nothing is impossible for God.   Keep in mind that He is HOLY and RIGHTEOUS, so HE WILL NOT OVERLOOK YOUR SIN. Remember that he is MERCIFUL and WILL FORGIVE YOU when you ask. Remember also that HE LOVES YOU MORE DEEPLY than you can even imagine and that HE

Lessons from the Lord's Prayer Part 2

Image
( I am sharing with you the second part of my devotion.) GOD bless you as you read! Our Father… “Our Father in heaven.” Matthew 6:9 Challenge:   If you want an enlightening experience, ask five or six people to describe their view of what God is like.   You’ll probably get five or six very different answers! One person may see God as a kindly old gentleman. Another may picture him as a harsh and demanding taskmaster. The Bible describes God as a loving father.            When you hear the term father, what comes to your mind? Without realizing it, you may equate God’s character with the way you view your earthly father.   Perhaps your father is nurturing, affectionate, and reliable.   If so, you will probably see God that way too.   Sadly, some fathers are harsh and critical, even cruel.   Even fathers with the best of intentions are imperfect.   They make mistakes.   They have weak moments.   If your father neglected you or did not express love toward you, you may tend to think

Lessons from the Lord’s Prayer

Image
When Jesus taught His disciples the Lord’s Prayer, he was not giving them a prayer to memorize and recite every time they prayed.   He was giving them a model for their own prayers.   As you study the model prayer that Jesus gave, compare it with the prayers you offer to God.   What can you learn from the way Jesus prayed that can help you to be more effective in your own praying? (I am sharing material from my devotional book The Experience Day-by-Day with God by Henry and Richard Blackaby) God bless as you read.... Our Father This is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” -Matthew 6:9            Everyone wants to be loved.   God designed the family to be a source of love and encouragement.   If you have a family that loves you and that is in your corner, you can take on life with confidence.   But what is that is not your experience? What if, to you, family means criticism, anger, and even abuse?   There is another family that longs to love and to
